Concert 32015 Documentary |
As of December 2022, Ben has become Festival Director of Cambridge Summer Music. Find out more here
The Southrepps Classical Music Festival was founded in 2010 by Ben Johnson, Tom Primrose and Daniel Goode. Their aim was to bring leading artists to make music of the highest order in a beautiful corner of rural Norfolk. The extraordinary community of the village of Southrepps has played from the start a vital role in the festival, as long-standing music-lovers and initiates to classical music alike involved themselves in the production of what has rapidly become a much-loved and keenly anticipated fixture in the region's calendar. The 2014 Festival saw the inauguration of the Young Artists' Programme. Six exceptional and promising young singers spent a week in Southrepps on an intensive course of individual coaching and group classes with artists from the festival as well as experts drawn from further afield. The aim of the programme is to gain training at the highest level on singing technique. This is complemented at every step by classes on all aspects of the art of singing (language, stagecraft, performance psychology etc). If you are interested in either supporting or applying to take part in the 2019 programme, send an email to Ben. In 2020 the Summer Festival was, of course, cancelled. The Festival team set about creating a set of recorded concerts to share with its audience and hope it will be enjoyed by everyone who watches. |
